We love the off season because it is a great time to catch up on all of the things we have put off all year long. Our schedule is much more flexible and we can schedule many engagement sessions. It is this time of year when we are getting to know many of our couples, and it makes us so excited for the weddings in the year ahead.

Santa Monica can actually be a crazy place to do an engagement session. So much hustle and bustle. So many people. It can sometimes be difficult for people to block out the world around and just focus on each other. However, Renee and Adam only had eyes for each other. Even with people whistling on the street, these two showed so much love for each other and were willing to share it in front of our cameras, no matter who was watching. We started and ended their session at a chic little bar called Copa d’ Oro, where the two had their first date. While snuggled up in a corner of this intimate little bar, we were able to capture these two reminiscing about the first moments they fell in love.

Happy Monday Everyone! We are so excited to share the images from this wedding! From the instant we received Nicole and Cal’s inquiry for their wedding we were smitten. I think it might have been the best ‘about us’ section we have ever received in an initial inquiry. They included so many details about their relationship and their wedding, that the moment we sat down to chat with them we felt like instant friends. They are two of the most fun and relaxed people we’ve ever meet. They love the outdoors, camping and hiking, yoga and cooking. We had grand expectations for their big day and their wedding did not dissapoint.

Their closest friends and family gathered at a spanish style boutique hotel in Palm Springs and made a weekend of it, lounging by the pool and sharing life together. Their ceremony was truly incredible and so full of emotion. In-fact, Micah and I had to avoid eye contact with each other during the ceremony so as not to start crying ourselves. Through laughter and tears they not only pledged their love for each other, but for the new baby that would soon be joining them as well. (Their baby is due in a matter of days!!)

These two are surrounded by some pretty amazing and loving people as well. During the reception they had a section of the evening called Sharing and Caring. Family members and friends shared memories and encouragements for the newlyweds. Nicole’s brother played the trumpet and poems and excerpts from books were read to celebrate the new marriage. It was so unique and special.

Nicole and Cal, we are in awe of you two. We wish you and your family so much love and joy throughout the rest of your lives.

Shortly before Christmas Jamie and Lewis contacted us to photograph their wedding. They are Pacific Northwest based so they were only in town for a brief few days around the holidays, visiting family, wedding planning, and hanging out with us! Upon chatting further with them we found that Jamie and Lewis are absoutely fun-loving and light hearted. Rodeo Drive, cupcake shops, the LA Lakers and tons of laughter throughout. Jamie would cuddle into Lewis, then Lewis would make her giggle, causing a domino effect of contagious laughter. The session was so much fun and by the end of our shoot our heart were so happy that we had made new friends, of whose wedding we would be such an important aspect. Jamie and Lewis, we can’t wait for this summer!

Every now and then we come across a love that truly knows no bounds. That is Elaine and Matt. They are in love and so excited to be getting married, yet they know that life could take some twists and turns between now and then. She lives and works in New York City and he is in the Bay Area. Their families are in Southern California, and they have no idea where they will land after marriage. Even with the time and distance between them, their love seems to grow stronger every day. Throughout their entire engagement session they just enjoyed spending time with each other, laughing and playing all the while. These two are truly incredible and it makes my heart so happy to know that we get to document their marriage later this summer.

Ken is a personal trainer and Deya is in the movie making business here in Los Angeles. After hearing about their Palm Springs wedding plans over a three hour lunch nearly a year ago, we knew that this was going to be our kind of wedding, but more importantly, our kind of couple. There is just something about Palm Springs weddings. Perhaps it is the sense of escape and freedom you get while only being a few hours away form Los Angeles. The desert feels so intimate and vast all at the same time. Deya and Ken’s wedding was no exception. Taking place at a private estate and the boutique Movie Colony Hotel, they invited an intimate group of family and friends to celebrate the first day of their marriage. We felt so blessed to be invited into their inner circle and truly felt like family ourselves. To Deya’s surprise, accompanied by one of his groomsmen on guitar, Ken broke out in song mid-ceremony and sang his vows to her. During the ceremony they shared funny and heartfelt stories of their relationship through laughter and tears. We can’t wait to hang out with these two again and see what adventures lie ahead for them.

The ease that these two have in their relationship made their session a breeze. They were both so willing just to be together and love each other in front of our cameras. Documenting these two in love made my heart so happy. Kevin and Jess, thank you for being so amazing! We cannot wait for your wedding next fall!

Tiffany and Isaac came to our neck of the woods for their engagement session here in Old Town Pasadena. We love the opportunities we get to hang out with couples who are about to dive into the adventure of marriage and these two reminded us yet again of the uniqueness of every love, that people truly are made for each other. Tiffany is perhaps the most well versed music afficionado that I know (made evident by her musically -enthusiastic twitter feed) and Isaac makes music of his own and can be heard on a near weekly basis playing at clubs all over LA. Some of our favorite weddings from this year have been the most intimate, and Jamie and Chris’ wedding was no exception. Nestled up in the redwood trees of Northern California, these two invited their closest friends and family to witness the first day of their marriage. Chris’s family flew in from England and Jamie’s brother officiated their ceremony. Both Jamie and Chris began their wedding day completely relaxed, yet excited to be getting married. But don’t let their low-key vibe confuse you. These two enjoy a good party (as we learned from dinner after their engagement shoot!). Their emotional ceremony led to, a dinner of heartfelt speeches, dancing, and a late night game of Cornhole!

Jamie and Chris, Thank you for sharing your hearts and your families with us! Thank you for inviting us into your intimate circle and allowing us to document this incredible day in your life! Thanks for introducing us to Cornhole!!! We cannot wait to hear about all of the adventures that marriage will bring you!

Here are few frames from Christine and Jeff’s wedding right in our own backyard. We love our little(ish) hometown of Pasadena and are so thankful for the life we’ve been blessed with. We are packing up the tent trailer and the Prius for some Thanksgiving week adventures and wanted to leave you with these photos to tide you over until next week. I know that sometimes people put undue pressure on themselves to come up with the perfect, most beautiful location for their engagement shoot. However, for us, the most important thing is that the place means something to our couples. We were so excited when Kali and Chad told us they love hiking and the outdoors and suggested Mt Baldy. Yes, the wide open space, the mountains, and the clear blue sky were amazing, but being some place Kali and Chad loved brought out so much playfulness and intimacy. We took the chair lift up the mountain and hiked all over, creating new memories with the two of them.
